CVE-2023-2990Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Service crash via recursive compressed administration packet

Published Jun 22, 2023 · Updated Dec 4, 2024

Denial of service in Fortra Globalscape EFT 8.0.0 through 8.1.0.15 allows remote attackers to crash the service via port 1100. The administration server's decompress_and_parse_packet function recursively reparses decompressed message ID 0xff7f without a depth limit, so a Zlib stream that expands to itself exhausts the stack. Exposure requires reachable remote administration; the demonstrated consequence is a service crash without code execution or data access.
