Authenticated memory corruption via unchecked HTTP query length
Published May 2, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stack buffer overflow in D-Link DIR-868L A1 firmware 1.12 allows remote authenticated users to corrupt memory through an HTTP request. The scandir.sgi binary copies a user-supplied HTTP query value into a fixed-length stack buffer without first validating its length. Authentication and network access to the HTTP interface are required; D-Link does not state whether exploitation causes a crash or code execution.
