Log-file path traversal via unsanitized request name
Published May 30, 2023 · Updated Jan 13, 2025
Path traversal in Pimcore before 10.5.22 allows remote authenticated users to write request-log data outside the log directory. In Pimcore::initLogger(), the pimcore_log request parameter supplies a log filename, but the filter replaces only forward slashes and leaves backslashes and dot-dot sequences intact. Exploitation requires debug mode and low-privilege access; the write occurs with the web process's filesystem permissions.
