CVE-2023-29818

Protection bypass via permissive allowlist matching

Published May 12, 2023 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Incorrect authorization in Webroot SecureAnywhere Endpoint Protection CE 23.1 9.0.33.39 and earlier allows local users to bypass protection. The default allowlist treats a file as allowed when its name, path, and size match an entry, without verifying that the file is trusted. Low-privileged local access is sufficient to stage a matching file, causing malicious content to evade endpoint detection.
