Authenticated server file placement via unchecked extension
Published Nov 27, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in Sentrifugo 3.5 allows remote authenticated users to place arbitrary files on the application server. AssetsController::uploadsaveAction retains the attacker-controlled filename extension and passes the temporary file to move_uploaded_file under ASSETS_IMAGES_TEMP_PATH. The demonstrated request stores a PHP web shell, but execution requires the destination to be web-accessible and configured to execute PHP.
