CVE-2023-29761Public exploit

Persistent denial of service via exposed preferences provider

Published Jun 9, 2023 · Updated Jan 6, 2025

Incorrect authorization in Urbandroid Sleep 20230303 for Android allows attackers to cause persistent denial of service. The exposed multiprocess preferences content provider accepts ContentResolver insert operations and writes attacker-controlled keys and values into startup-loaded SharedPreferences without authorization. Exploitation requires an attacker-controlled app to invoke the provider; altered settings can repeatedly disrupt Sleep when the application starts.
