Persistent app crash via oversized preference bundles
Published Jun 9, 2023 · Updated Jan 6, 2025
Denial of service in Yandex Navigator 6.60 for Android allows local users to persistently crash the app through a malicious app. The exposed ru.yandex.common.clid.ClidService accepts an update_preferences intent and stores attacker-supplied bundles in SharedPreferences without caller validation or size limits. Repeated oversized keys and values exhaust memory when the preferences load at startup, leaving navigation persistently unavailable after restarts.
