Privilege escalation via arbitrary SharedPreferences writes
Published May 31, 2023 · Updated Jan 9, 2025
Privilege escalation in Story Saver for Instragram - Video Downloader 1.0.6 for Android allows attackers to alter application data. The exported TTMultiProvider accepts an unauthenticated content-provider update whose URI selects any SharedPreferences file and stores supplied values without access control. Another app on the same Android device can corrupt values that the victim loads at startup, causing behavior such as abnormal ad display.
