Local privilege escalation via dictionary provider inserts
Published May 30, 2023 · Updated Jan 14, 2025
Improper access control in Wave Animated Keyboard Emoji 1.70.7 allows local users to execute code with the keyboard app's privileges. The dictionary-pack content provider accepts attacker-controlled insert operations that write arbitrary dictionary metadata, including filenames and download URLs, into its database. A low-privilege malicious app on the same Android device can reach the provider and run code in the keyboard application's security context.
