Privilege escalation via unrestricted content-provider updates
Published May 30, 2023 · Updated Jan 14, 2025
Improper privilege management in edjing Mix 7.09.01 for Android allows attackers to overwrite playlist data through its content provider. The exported content URI content://com.edjing.edjingdjturntable/playlist accepts unrestricted update operations, letting another app replace playlist database fields without authorization. Exploitation requires a malicious app on the same Android device; the published proof of concept repeatedly overwrites playlist metadata with attacker-controlled values.
