Reflected script execution via incomplete name sanitization
Published May 18, 2023 · Updated Jan 21, 2025
Reflected cross-site scripting in index.php in SofaWiki 3.8.9 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script via a crafted name parameter. index.php passes the request's name value through swSimpleSanitize(), which removes only angle brackets and leaves quote-based event-handler injection intact. A victim must open the crafted URL, after which injected script runs in the hosting site's browser context.
