CVE-2023-2968Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated service crash via undefined remote address

Published May 30, 2023 · Updated Jan 9, 2025

Denial of service in TooTallNate proxy before 2.1.1 allows remote attackers to crash the proxy via a crafted HTTP request. The onrequest handler appends socket.remoteAddress to X-Forwarded-For without verifying that the address is a string; invalid trailing request data leaves it undefined and raises a TypeError. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the terminated proxy interrupts service until an operator restarts it.
