Script execution via unfiltered Markdown preview
Published May 1, 2023 · Updated Jan 30, 2025
Cross-site scripting in Pandao Editor.md 1.5.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute scripts through crafted Markdown text. The preview renderer places unfiltered Markdown-derived HTML into the page, so event-handler attributes such as an image onerror payload execute in the browser. Exploitation requires a user to render attacker-controlled Markdown; successful scripts can read or alter data available to the affected page.
