CVE-2023-29552Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Network service interruption via spoofed UDP amplification

Published Apr 25, 2023 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

Network amplification in Service Location Protocol implementations allows remote attackers to interrupt services via spoofed UDP traffic. Unauthenticated registration accepts arbitrary service entries, so a 29-byte request for all service types can trigger a response near 65,000 bytes. Exploitation requires a reachable SLP service on UDP port 427 and source-address spoofing; the reflector sends the amplified traffic to the chosen victim.
