CVE-2023-29537Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via racy font initialization

Published Jun 2, 2023 · Updated Jan 9, 2025

Race conditions in Mozilla Firefox, Firefox for Android, and Focus for Android before 112 allow remote attackers to execute code via crafted web content. In desktop builds, concurrent canvas workers race while lazily initializing shared missing-glyph and FreeType font objects; on Android, FT2FontEntry likewise accesses unguarded state. A victim must load attacker-controlled web content; the demonstrated desktop case reaches the content process, while the same races can also crash the browser.
