Authenticated code execution via unescaped attachment properties
Published Apr 18, 2023 · Updated Feb 5, 2025
Code injection in XWiki Platform allows remote authenticated users to execute server-side code through a crafted dashboard gadget. AttachmentSelector.xml embeds unescaped property names and values inside an HTML macro, allowing injected directives to be dynamically evaluated. A registered account that can add an attachment-selector gadget to its own dashboard is required; successful exploitation executes code on the wiki server and enables privilege escalation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
