CVE-2023-29486Public exploit

Code execution via bypassed USB access restrictions

Published Dec 21, 2023 · Updated Sep 25, 2024

Security-control bypass in Heimdal Security Thor on Windows allows attackers to execute code and access data through USB media. Public technical records do not identify a faulty function or operation; they state that the Next-Gen Antivirus component fails to enforce configured USB access restrictions. The affected range starts at 3.4.2 and ends before 3.7.0, and exposure requires use of the disputed USB control, which Heimdal says only manages native Windows restrictions.
