Cleartext credential logging in Lightbend Alpakka Kafka before 4.0.2 allows local users to read Kafka login secrets from debug logs. KafkaConsumerActor sends ConsumerSettings to debug logging, while its toString method prints every property except keys ending in .password. Exposure requires debug logging, a plain cleartext login configuration, and access to application logs; the consequence is credential disclosure only.
