CVE-2023-29468

Unauthenticated code execution via excess wireless information elements

Published Aug 14, 2023 · Updated May 5, 2025

Buffer overflow in the Texas Instruments WiLink WL18xx MCP driver 8.5_SP3 and earlier allows physically proximate attackers to overwrite host memory. The management-frame parser accepts more than three XCC_EXT_1_IE_ID or XCC_EXT_2_IE_ID information elements and writes them past its intended buffer. Wireless range and a crafted management frame are required; successful exploitation overwrites host-processor memory and enables code execution.
