CVE-2023-29403

Elevated data access via unsafe setuid execution

Published Jun 8, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Improper privilege management in Go runtime before 1.19.10 and 1.20.0 through 1.20.4 allows local users elevated file access. The runtime fails to recognize setuid or setgid execution, leaves closed standard descriptors unfilled, and exposes register data in panic or signal output. Exploitation requires a Unix Go binary with setuid or setgid privileges; effects are limited to elevated file reads or writes and process-memory disclosure.
