Omnibox spoofing via Picture-in-Picture misrepresentation
Published May 30, 2023 · Updated Mar 11, 2025
UI misrepresentation in Google Chrome before 114.0.5735.90 allows remote attackers to spoof the Omnibox through a crafted HTML page. The Picture-in-Picture component fails to preserve a trustworthy URL-bar representation for the crafted page; Google has not disclosed the underlying faulty code operation. Exploitation requires a compromised renderer process and user interaction, and the reported consequence is URL-bar spoofing rather than data access or service interruption.
