CVE-2023-29344Public exploit

Code execution via PICT heap out-of-bounds write

Published Jun 5, 2023 · Updated Jul 10, 2025

Heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft Office allows remote attackers to execute code when a user opens a crafted SketchUp file. The Office 3D component passes an abnormal PICT image embedded in an MFC-type SKP file to FreeImage, whose parsing writes beyond a heap buffer. Exploitation requires user interaction, and resulting code runs in that user's security context with access limited by the account's permissions.
