Browser process compromise via PDF use-after-free
Published May 30, 2023 · Updated May 5, 2025
Use after free in Google Chrome's PDF component before 114.0.5735.90 allows remote attackers to corrupt heap memory via a crafted PDF file. The public Chrome advisory identifies the PDF component but does not disclose the object-lifetime error or code path that reuses freed memory. Exploitation requires user interaction with the crafted PDF, after which corrupted browser-process memory can undermine execution or crash the process.
