Sensitive-memory disclosure via stale Annotation object
Published Aug 10, 2023 · Updated May 28, 2026
Use-after-free in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 23.003.20244 and earlier allows remote attackers to disclose sensitive memory via a malicious file. Annotation handling performs operations without validating that the object still exists, leaving a stale reference usable after release. Reader 2020 20.005.30467 and earlier is also affected; a victim must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file, and disclosure can aid a separate code-execution chain.
