CVE-2023-29246Network attack vector

Admin-level code execution via malformed tool paths

Published May 12, 2023 · Updated Oct 10, 2024

Improper input validation in Apache OpenMeetings 2.0.0 through 7.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via crafted tool paths. ConfigForm saved the FFmpeg, ImageMagick, Office, and SoX executable-path settings as ordinary strings instead of validating them with Path.of, allowing null bytes to reach later path processing. An administrator account is required, and successful exploitation executes code with the server process's privileges.
