CVE-2023-29187

Administrator code execution via user-writable DLL path

Published Apr 11, 2023 · Updated Feb 26, 2025

DLL hijacking in SAPSetup 9.0 allows local users with basic authorization to execute code as an administrator on the same Windows PC. SAPSetup loads a DLL from a directory writable by a basic Windows user instead of restricting the load to an administrator-writable location. Exploitation requires user interaction and several attacker-independent preconditions; success grants administrator-level execution on that host.
