Administrative file overwrite via report path traversal
Published Apr 11, 2023 · Updated Feb 7, 2025
Path traversal in SAP NetWeaver BI Content Add-On versions 707, 737, 747, and 757 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite server files. The RSXSA_FILE_UPLOAD_DOWNLOAD report fails to confine a supplied upload path to its intended directory and writes attacker-controlled content outside that directory. Administrative privileges are required; critical operating-system files can be replaced, rendering the server unavailable, but the flaw does not disclose data.
