CVE-2023-29182

Privileged code execution via crafted CLI commands

Published Aug 17, 2023 · Updated Oct 8, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in Fortinet FortiOS 6.2, 6.4, and 7.0.0 through 7.0.3 allows local users to execute arbitrary code. Fortinet has not disclosed the affected CLI command parser or its incorrect bounds operation; crafted CLI command input overwrites a stack buffer. Administrative CLI privileges and evasion of FortiOS stack protections are required, after which code executes with the vulnerable process privileges.
