CVE-2023-29161

Local privilege escalation via uncontrolled search path

Published Nov 14, 2023 · Updated Aug 30, 2024

Uncontrolled search path in Intel One Boot Flash Update Utility before 14.1.31 allows local users to escalate privileges. Intel identifies the weakness class but does not disclose the executable, library, path element, or search-order operation that trusts an attacker-influenced location. Exploitation requires authenticated local access, low privileges, high complexity, and user interaction, and grants privileges that permit data access, modification, and service interruption.
