Uncontrolled resource consumption in the CheckUser extension for MediaWiki through 1.39.3 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service. Repeated CheckUserLog API queries consume request-processing capacity until MediaWiki raises RequestTimeoutException or an upstream server times out. Exploitation requires the checkuserlog permission and a configuration in which a high request volume reaches either timeout condition.
