CVE-2023-29134Network attack vector

SQL injection via backtick quote mishandling

Published Mar 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

SQL injection in the Cargo extension for Wikimedia Foundation MediaWiki through 1.39.3 allows remote attackers to manipulate database queries. The smartSplit parser mishandles quotes inside backtick-delimited expressions, causing crafted Cargo query input to cross intended SQL parsing boundaries. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful injection can read or modify limited data and interrupt database-backed service.
