CVE-2023-29105Network attack vector

Gateway denial of service via malformed MQTT payloads

Published May 9, 2023 · Updated Jan 28, 2025

Denial of service in Siemens SIMATIC Cloud Connect 7 CC712 and CC716 before 2.1 allows attackers to interrupt the gateway via MQTT. Its MQTT parser lacks standardized error handling for random non-JSON payloads, allowing malformed broker data to interrupt device service. Exploitation requires control of communications between the MQTT broker and the gateway; confidentiality and integrity are unaffected.
