Privileged file read and overwrite via upload traversal
Published May 9, 2023 · Updated Jan 28, 2025
Path traversal in Siemens SIMATIC Cloud Connect 7 CC712 and CC716 2.0 through 2.0.x allows remote authenticated users to read or overwrite files. The web-management upload feature accepts traversal sequences in a supplied filename, resolving it outside the intended upload directory. Administrative access is required, and file access remains bounded by the Linux ccuser account's read and write permissions.
