Remote modem interruption via SIP Via-header overflow
Published Apr 14, 2023 · Updated Feb 7, 2025
Memory corruption in Samsung Exynos SIP Via-header decoding allows remote attackers to interrupt affected modem operation via crafted SIP traffic. The Shannon baseband Via-header decoder insufficiently validates header parameters, allowing decoded values to overrun a stack buffer. Network delivery requires no authentication or user interaction, but triggering is high-complexity and the documented consequence is modem-service interruption.
