CVE-2023-28985Network attack vector

Unauthenticated service interruption via malformed SSL packet

Published Jul 14, 2023 · Updated Nov 7, 2024

Improper input validation in Junos OS IDP before SigPack 3598 allows remote attackers to interrupt service with a malformed SSL packet. The SSL detector processes the syntactically invalid packet instead of rejecting it, crashes, and produces an FPC core. IDP must be enabled on an SRX Series or MX Series platform, and continued packet delivery sustains the interruption without exposing or modifying data.
