Local rpd crash via use-after-free
Published Apr 17, 2023 · Updated Feb 5, 2025
Use-after-free in the rpd routing daemon in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows local users to crash rpd. During BGP RIB sharding, rpd accesses freed memory after a specific CLI command and crashes shortly afterward. Low-privilege authentication is sufficient, and the failure is more likely above one million routes; the demonstrated impact is interruption of routing-service availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
