Contact disclosure via cleartext SQLite storage
Published Jun 28, 2025 · Updated Jun 30, 2025
Cleartext storage in JOYNEXT MIB3 OI MQB versions 0 through 0304 allows attackers to read synchronized phone contacts from the unit. The phone service writes names, phone numbers, email addresses, and profile pictures without encryption to a SQLite database and photo directory under /var/lib/tsd.bt.phone.mib3. Access requires prior code execution on the infotainment unit or physical extraction of its eMMC storage, exposing the vehicle owner's contact data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
