Local Registry disclosure via symbolic-link traversal
Published Dec 9, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Link following in the Support Assistant in NCP Secure Enterprise Client before 12.22 allows local users to read protected Windows Registry data. The privileged diagnostic export recursively follows attacker-created Registry symbolic links under writable Services subkeys into arbitrary Registry locations. Low-privileged local access and a writable exported subkey are required; exposed data can include protected material such as the SAM hive.
