Two-factor bypass via retained AuthBasic sessions
Published Mar 31, 2023 · Updated Feb 14, 2025
Improper authentication in LemonLDAP::NG before 2.16.1 allows remote attackers to bypass two-factor verification through AuthBasic. The AuthBasic handler generates weak session identifiers and retains a stored session when a password-check plugin rejects session creation after the store step. Exploitation requires a valid primary password for an account subject to two-factor authentication and grants password-only access as that account.
