Content spoofing via missing WebSocket Origin validation
Published May 25, 2023 · Updated May 22, 2026
Missing WebSocket Origin validation in CBOT Chatbot before Core 4.0.3.4 and Panel 4.0.3.7 allows remote attackers to spoof content. The WebSocket handshake fails to validate the browser-supplied Origin header, allowing a malicious site to send application API messages in the victim's context. Exploitation requires user interaction with attacker-controlled content; the published impact is limited to unauthorized content modification.
