Protected file disclosure via unchecked versions endpoint
Published Mar 31, 2023 · Updated Feb 11, 2025
Improper access control in Nextcloud Server 24.0.4 through 24.0.9 and 25.0.0 through 25.0.3 allows remote authenticated users to read protected file versions. The ViewOnly DAV plugin treats VersionFile nodes as unrestricted because it applies download-permission checks only to ordinary DAV files. A user with access to a view-only share and its versions endpoint can retrieve an older revision even when the share disables downloads, exposing historical content for uncontrolled distribution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
