CVE-2023-28827Network attack vector

Service interruption via watchdog-triggered pointer cleanup

Published Sep 10, 2024 · Updated Sep 10, 2024

NULL pointer dereference in Siemens SIMATIC and SIPLUS web servers allows remote attackers to interrupt affected industrial systems. Certain requests time out the watchdog, after which the web server cleans up pointers in a way that can dereference NULL. Network access to the web server is required, and successful exploitation disrupts availability without reported data disclosure or modification.
