Rogue Collector installation via unsigned upgrade files
Published Mar 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 19, 2025
Improper signature verification in Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics 11.0 and 11.1 allows attackers to deploy rogue Collector files. The upgrade process accepts aptare.jar or upgrademanager.zip from the Portal server without verifying their authenticity before collectors install them. Administrative or root access to the Portal server is required, and exploitation causes collectors to install attacker-supplied code.
