Malicious file download via crafted plug-in messages
Published Nov 23, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Improper parameter modification in Hikvision LocalServiceComponents 1.0.0.78 and earlier allows remote attackers to download malicious files. The plug-in accepts crafted messages that rewrite its parameters and then uses the altered values to retrieve an attacker-selected file; Hikvision has not disclosed the parsing locus. Exploitation requires user interaction according to Hikvision's assessment, and the published impact stops at downloading the file rather than claiming its execution.
