Buffer overflow in Hikvision NVR/DVR password recovery allows remote attackers on the same LAN to stop affected devices with crafted requests. The email-verification handler accepts an oversized securityCode in PUT /ISAPI/Security/emailCertification without enforcing its buffer limit. No authentication is required; successful exploitation first stops the web server and then halts the recorder host.
