CVE-2023-28802

Protection bypass via interrupted diagnostic service restart

Published Nov 21, 2023 · Updated Jan 6, 2026

Improper integrity-check validation in Zscaler Client Connector before 4.2.0.149 allows local users to disable ZIA and ZPA. On Windows, Zscaler Diagnostics restarts the service, but Client Connector fails to preserve the integrity of that restart when it is interrupted. An authenticated user with physical access can interrupt the diagnostic restart, leaving both traffic-protection services disabled.
