Local system crash via unvalidated kernel handle
Published May 24, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in eScan Antivirus 22.0.1400.2443 allows local users to crash Windows through a driver IOCTL request. The PROCOBSRVESX.SYS handler for IOCTL 0x22E008 passes an unvalidated kernel handle to ZwDuplicateObject, triggering the dereference. A normal local user can reach the driver interface without user interaction, and successful exploitation causes a Windows blue-screen crash.
