CVE-2023-28706Network attack vector

Remote code execution via Beeline auth injection

Published Apr 7, 2023 · Updated Oct 22, 2024

Code injection in Apache Airflow Hive Provider before 6.0.0 allows remote attackers to execute code through a Beeline connection. HiveCliHook reads the auth value from connection extras and appends it unchanged to the Beeline JDBC URL used to launch the client. The path is reached when a deployment uses Beeline and accepts attacker-controlled Hive connection metadata, resulting in code execution in the task context.
