Host restriction bypass via backslash authority parsing
Published Mar 27, 2023 · Updated Feb 19, 2025
Authority parsing in Lambda Island URI before 1.14.120 allows attackers to bypass host restrictions with a crafted URL. The URI parser's uri-regex accepts a backslash inside the authority, so authority-regex treats the following text as the host rather than a path. Impact requires a consuming application to trust the parsed host for a security decision; the parser alone does not redirect traffic or expose data.
