CVE-2023-28597

Code execution via malicious SMB server responses

Published Mar 27, 2023 · Updated Feb 19, 2025

Trust boundary violation in Zoom clients before 5.13.5 allows attackers on an adjacent network to execute code through malicious SMB responses. After a local recording is saved to an SMB location and opened from a Zoom web-portal link, the client trusts a malicious SMB server response and launches an attacker-controlled executable. Exploitation requires the saved-recording workflow and adjacent-network access; Zoom VDI for Windows is affected before 5.13.10.
